A spoonful of sugar

A taste of your own medicine is supposedly something none of us like doing, but here at HK we’ve been doing just that – and loved it!

With our creaky WordPress website slowly losing functionality, we decided to grab the bull by the horns and not only rebuild our website but also go for a brand refresh whilst we were at it. New decade, new you – and all that!

As a small business, we pride ourselves on our responsiveness to clients. So our main concern was whether we could afford the time away from client work to give this our best shot. After much soul searching, we decided to do what we ask our clients to do on a daily basis – put our faith in an external supplier.

It’s been a really interesting process for us, and has brought about some real benefits – other than just our lovely new website and brand – which we hope you love just as much as us!  So what have the benefits been?

  • A real focus on deadlines – when you’re paying for someone else’s time, and they need your input, it really focuses the mind

  • Real rigour and process – and not getting caught up in the minutiae, which is so easy to do when you’re trying to analyse yourself!

  • Looking at ourselves with a fresh pair of eyes – a really interesting process, learning what ‘an outsider’ sees in your organisation when they look at your website has really helped us hone our message

  • Considering new ways of doing things – working with a designer is always fun, and a real chance to experiment

  • Reflecting on who we are – and making sure we don’t throw the baby out with the bath water!

What seemed like a daunting task at the end of 2019, has made the start of 2020 feel stimulating and full of new beginnings.  So we look forward to working with many of you over the coming year and beyond – bringing with us that same sense of energy and drive, a fresh pair of eyes and new ideas, and commitment to getting a great job done.

If you have any feedback on our site we’d love to hear it!
